Salt & Straw

In 2011, cousins Kim and Tyler Malek set out to create a community gathering place where neighbors and families could treat themselves and connect. 

Salt & Straw was born in a food truck in Portland and quickly graduated to a storefront that became known for bringing people together over a scoop. Our success is based on incredible ice cream made from premium ingredients. We source our cream from a fifth-generation, family-owned dairy that is home to grass-fed cows who are never given growth hormones or antibiotics. We make each ice cream batch by hand, with unthinkable care. And we fearlessly explore the history of flavor and discovery of emerging artisans, using ice cream as a blank slate for storytelling. Our shops are true neighborhood gathering places where people can connect and learn more about themselves and their communities.
